Description

The Business Development Corporation seeks a full-time director to guide the community and economic development of Massena. The director will work independently under the supervision of the (BDC) Board of Directors serving the Greater Massena Community. The successful candidate will perform activities including but not limited to: planning, promoting, implementing and managing economic development and community development programs and initiatives for the advancement and support of local business and the revitalization of neighborhoods and commercial site


Qualifications

  • * Outgoing, positive and professional demeanor that is reflective of the BCDC * Exceptional communication and relationship skills * Ability to effectively describe and promote the community’s assets and needs * Experience collaborating with multiple diverse groups, including public officials, private enterprise and community organizations * Knowledge and understanding how public sector bodies work * Ability to coordinate and facilitate meetings with stakeholders * Project development and management experience * Experience managing promotion and marketing of programs, projects, events and initiatives
  • Duties and Responsibilities: * Solicit community input and assess needs of private sector in relation to BCDC strategies and initiatives * Build relationships and networks with other economic and community development entities, residents, community organizations, social service agencies and financial institutions * Identify and pursue sources of funding for programs and projects * Assist grant writer with collection, interpretation and analysis of data * Manage funds for projects and execute some grant awards * Plan, coordinate, conduct and attend meetings with variety of stakeholders * Prepare and present reports for local government entities, partner organizations, media and residents * Manage marketing of new economic and community development service-delivery concept in cooperation with partner * Make site visits to private businesses and other stakeholder organizations in the region * Assist entrepreneurs with start up of new businesses by providing feasibility analysis, connection to resources and model business plans
  • Requirements: * BA/BS degree with major coursework in public or business administration, urban planning, economic or community development, marketing or related field * Experience managing projects independently * Experience with basic software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Power Point and Outlook * Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
